Details:
From now until the beginning of November (at least), I’m going to have a series of connected (but able to be played independently) one-shots set up for Friday and Saturday evenings. Sign ups will continue to be handled through Start Playing Games just as they have been, with a per-player cost of $25. Sign ups for each session will close 8 hours prior (noon EST of that day). You will be able to find the games at https://startplaying.games/gm/senor-wombat (look for “Game And Give” in the adventure title).
HOWEVER.
If you make a donation that day to any of the causes above (and show me a receipt), I’ll discount your price by that amount (up to the price of the session). A new donation will be needed for each session. The donation and cost adjustment must be made prior to the start of the session.
Why not donate the money yourself?
Because of paperwork and legality reasons. The free or reduced admission is not a compensation for your donation.
What if I donate more, or have it count for other players?
Great! The whole point of me offering this is to raise money for these organizations. If you want to let your donation “count” for other players, that’s great, if not, that’s fine too.
What if I don’t want to donate?
Cool, just join as normal, for the listed price.
Can I (insert way to try to find a loophole)?
No, you’re missing the point. The $25 mark is because that is the lowest suggested donation most of those organizations. I’m even taking steps to ensure that StartPlayingGames gets their cut (out of my pocket) when I discount your prices, because they seem to be good people.
Are the games going to be politically themed? Will there be political discussion during the game?
Not any more than is determined by the fiction. I avoid talking about real-world politics during paid game sessions.
What if I don’t agree with those groups or their politics? Could I still play?
Absolutely. However, I will note that I run inclusive games, and absolutely do not tolerate bigotry or harassment of other players.
